Long Island born and raised self-taught painter Diego Garcia has had a natural passion for art since childhood. Diego began his artistic journey by finding inspiration in popular icons like Michael Jackson and Walt Disney. The graffiti culture and honors art classes at Brentwood High School catalyzed Diego’s talents at a very young age. He started to take his craft seriously around 17 with commission work and local group exhibitions. Since 2015, the artist has had six successful gallery solo exhibitions alongside many group and highlighted artist showcases on the east coast. All of which has accumulated to Volume 7: A solo exhibition by Diego Garcia.
The collection of new paintings emphasize the techniques and unique artistic intuition that Diego has strengthened through his previous bodies of work. Imagery of the human form dissected and reconstructed with abstract expressionist gestures, surrealist compositions and street art attitude all explore an array of emotions and life experiences..
The title of the show derives from the intention of ambiguity. Volume 7 leaves space for the viewer to have their own perspectives and interpretations of the paintings while simultaneously celebrating the artist and his 7th solo show production.
